surprise of the day

One of my goals this summer was catching the feral cats out back to prevent the local fisher cats from making them dinner.  Unfortunately, papa cat was FIV positive, so he did not come back.  Last night I heard the trap trigger and lo and behold, the kitten was in there. This is the last remaining kitten from last summer's litter born under my shed.
The surprise came after I sedated her crazy self to test for FIV and leukemia - this was a girl cat!  Being an orange kitty, I assumed (with a 4 in 5 chance of correctness) that this was a male cat.  So, female with resolving mammary glands - tomorrow I crawl under the porch checking for kittens, but I suspect she lost this litter.  Luckily she is FIV/Felv negative, and one of my techs has already taken her home to see if she can be socialized.  I'll be spaying her on Thursday.

Anyone want a spazzed out orange cat?
