Day 7717: Four Bridges Arts Festival 2011

Apr 17, 2011 21:48

Emily and I went to the 4 Bridges Art Festival last year and had such a good time that we went back this year. Most of the art is so far out of our price range that it's unthinkable to bring any of it home but we still had a great time looking at it all and spending the day together.

I was totally foolish and forgot to charge my camera battery last night so I was only about to get pictures of the first third of the highlights but I collected cards from the rest of the artists who especially impressed me and, if they have a website, I'll post a link.

These first pictures are the exhibit of Thomas Spake studios and that's Mr Spake in the first one- he kindly allowed me to take pictures of his work.

I just loved that piece of sculpture- although I can only imagine what the cats would do to it if I had brought it home.

Some lovely jewelry by Jennifer Wells

A bird that was flitting about:

Wood turnings by Jimmy Lee

Sculpture by William Kolok

And the artist himself:

As you can tell, I liked his work a lot.

The delightful raven is by James Carter

I was very tempted to take that one home with me if I could have afforded it!

These are from Thor Bueno at Bueno Glass

These are turnings by Matthew Hatala- email ginsue52@starband.net. As far as I can tell, he has no other web presence.

Sculpture by Susan Clayton

The Lady in the Bath made me think of Lush baths...

Pottery by Greg Neal

A random shot-

An amazing butterfly in 2-D mixed media by Terry Cannon

Ceramics by Michael Terra of Terra Cottage

Glass by Randi Solin

This is the piece I would have loved- really loved to take home! By Bobby Michelson Unfortunately, it was far far too much... and worth every penny, I am sure!

I'm talking about the treasure chest, of course.

A great necklace by Katie Sasser of Angelic Creations

This wonderful inlaid box is by Roger Bulkley at New Creation Wood. They have no web presence but the email is given as newcreation@triton.net.

Emily browsing-

My favorite print from Gary E. Bachers.

Ceramics by Andy Smith of Raku. Also Andy himself.

This is where my camera ran out of battery. By turning it off, I was able to get two more pictures by the time we left:

Young Artists:

and the sidewalk art made by the kids:

There was, of course, food and wine and music. The wine was nothing special, Emily didn't much like her Strawberry smoothy but the crepe I had (mushrooms and Monteray Jack cheese) from Crêpe a Delic was fantastic!

After the batteries ran out in my camera, I collected business cards hoping I could find some websites with a few pictures to show the rest of our day... and possibly for other reasons. (I still want the treasure box!)

This is one Emily especially liked by Rone Prinz

Painting by Cat Tesla

I think I like her name even more than I do her art!

By MIchelle Smith of Mud Spun Studio

Jim & Lynn Lemyre: Surreal Oil Paintings

These were so great! I almost brought one of the coffee prints home... Photos by Lorri Honeycutt of Big World Photo

Painting by Shaun LaRose This painting reminds me of Emily, somehow.

come for a walk with me, unplugged summer
