Yay! Quitting! I quit eight and a half years ago. It's hard, but not impossible. You've already done the hardest part, decided to quit. Lemme know if you want moral support, and I'll hold forth on the subject ;) Congratulations. Stick with it. ~Rick
Fortuantely, the coffee was apparently bad or something... although it does not taste nearly as good as it did! I'm drinking a lot more water consequently which can only be a good thing.

I read a picture book that made me think of you. It is called The Quiltmaker's Gift by Jeff Brumbeau and Gail de Marken. At the end of the book there's even a url www.quiltmakersgift.com
I don't think I've ever read a better quilting story than this one. (Not that I've read many) Anyway I just wanted to share.

That is one of my very favorite books! If you have ever been to my webpage, I even borrowed one of the illustrations as part of the page border. There is/was also a line of fabric put out by Benartex based on the book and sold by the yard or in bundles of a fat quarter (18 X 22" piece) of each fabric in the line. I have a bundle sitting in my sewing room waiting for me to make a "Quiltmaker's Gift" quilt.
Even for people who don't quilt, it is a wonderful book for parents. I try to get it into as many kid hands as I possibly can... I'm glad you have found it! So many good lessons about priorities... I especially like the bit where she asks the king "If your posessions don't make you happy, what good are they?"

I knew it reminded me of you for a reason. The word "quilt" is fairly strongly associated with you, but then both you and the quiltmaker assert the opinion that quilts are for giving, not selling. It is a beautiful sentiment and a beautiful book.
