I happened to look back at my old LJ entries, so weird reading them now because I was such a different person back then.
Nowadays I have this pinned to my desktop so it's the first thing I see every time I turn on my computer.
You have to make your own happiness, wherever you are. Your job isn’t going to make you happy, your spouse isn’t going to make you happy, the weather isn’t going to make you happy… You have to decide what you want, and you have to find that way of doing it, whether or not the outside circumstances are going to participate in your success… You have to be able to create your own happiness, period. People are as happy as they choose.
Pretty good advice eh, I forget who originally came up with it.. but I copied it to my pinboard thing one day and it's been there since. I shall make an effort to post more things that make me happy here in future. Don't wanna get TOO old and sad and cranky.
I have been reading Peter Beagle's The Last Unicorn, and he writes beautifully. Good fantasy writing is a delight.
