Two new updates on MySpace from Ken & Rhett:
Howdy MySpace-cadets,
I've posted Singular Girl to my page for your listening pleasure. It's a song I've tried (unsuccessfully) to get the 97's to put on an album for years. A recording of this song does exist, but it's a b-side/rarity. I think the song deserved more. I reworked it a little in the interim, removing a T-Rex reference ("you've got the teeth of the hydra upon you") b/c it seemed to cheapen the song a little - not to mention that people were always asking me why I was singing about hydroponics. I'm not even sure what "hydroponic" means...
Anyway.
This is the second song I've leaked off The Believer. Both are exclusive to MySpace. I'm really taken with the idea and implementation of this particular cyber-world. I'm trying to give back. So tell your friends. Take my song to your own profile. I've only got a little over a month before my record comes out and I'm on the bus. Forever.
I appreciate all the cool comments and messages. Like I've said before, I'm not going to write/comment back. I can barely even keep up with my mom's emails and phone calls. But I do read whatever you send and I laugh or grimace accordingly. Keep 'em coming.
I'll post another new song in the next few days. Until then...
yrs,
Rhett
http://www.myspace.com/rhettmiller Hey for you guys in Dallas, I'm in a play that opens the weekend of
the 26th in Garland at the Garland Arts Center (next the the Dart
Station in Downtown).
http://www.garlandcivictheatre.org/productions.php?pid=25 The show is "The Philadelphia Story", which was a an old screwball
comedy from 1940 I believe. I play a small role, Thomas the butler
("Is there anything else, madame?") but it's the first non-musical
role I've had in a show since I was a junior in high school so it's
what I wanted.
All the information about when the show runs is on the website I
believe. If you guys get a chance, check it out.
Unfortunatly, that's all I have on stage until maybe summer or fall.
With Rhett's cd coming out and his new baby, (his wife is pregnant,
you guys probably know), 2006 will be tough on the 97's getting to
do any tours. :-(
I guess that's life in the slow lane though.
You guys be safe,
ken
