i guess it would be appropriate to make a harry potter update. i've read a little less than half the book, and i am enjoying it so far.

what i did NOT enjoy about this experience is working at borders when the damn thing came out. i didnt have to go the night of the release party (i went, and had managed to get an early enough wristband that i was outta there by 12:45) but what i heard from the staff is that the last customer left by around 2:30, and the staff at 3:30. when i got there at 9 the next morning trash littlered the store, and we had four carts overflowing with recovery...

it really irks me when people walk into a store they say they love going to and trash the place. i understand that it was an abnormality that we had the party, and nearly 1,000 people in the store, but it's really like this every day, only on a smaller scale. piles of books are found in corners. people (one little short black guy in paricular) wait until the very last second possible, then rush to the bathrooms to publicly masturbate. children are brought in and set free on the kid's section. NO WONDER all the staff are bitter, sarcastic people. good god...

and so i will now frrebly attempt to explain what border's books and music exhists for... *ahem* WE ARE A BOOK STORE, NOT A LIBRARY. WE ARE NOT HERE FOR YOU TO BRING YOUR CHILD IN A READ TO THEM. NOR ARE WE HERE SO YOU CAN COME IN AND READ PILES ON MANGA AND LEAVE THEM SCATTERED ABOUT THE FLOOR. WE ARE NOT HERE TO PROVIDE YOU WITH FREE STUDY MATERIAL. WE ARE A BUSINESS. READING A BOOK IN THE STORE WITHOUT BUYING IT IS STEALING. STANDING AROUND IN A BOOK STORE IDLY IS LOITERING. i understand the need to look through a book a bit and seeing if you'll like/it has the information you want. but to sit down and read the entire thing and leave the remains for the staff to pick up is unforgivable by the greatest of book gods. BOOKUS.

that said...

so far it's been a wild ride for harry, he's experienced a flying motorcycle crash, watched hedwig die, (hedwig! the friggin' owl! i nearly cried... and HP has never made me do that before... HEDWIIIIIG!!) go into hiding and the burrow, attended a wedding, then the minister died, harry fought some death eaters in a diner, and then escaped to grimmauld place. there he made friends with kreacher (who's sudden change in attitude due to harry's is less like a mutinous midget and now more like a housewife) gone after the locket horcrux in the very ministry itself, stunned two ministry people, then made a daring.... escape? i think so... but im not so sure...

i've flipped breifly through the last few pages and one caught my eye; a final chapter called "15 years later" hmmmmmm....

so far its a very fun book though =D

rant, harry potter, borders
