Title: Let The Right One In
Rating: PG
Characters: Lisa, Dean, mention of Ben
Warning: post "Swan Song". (isn't everything?) BUT SO AU.
Summary: Lisa knows he's there.

A/N: My irrational fear of my glass front door led to this one. Glass door + darkness + this weird bush outside + A Nightmare on Elm Street = carrying a baseball bat if I have to go past the door after 10 PM.
A/N 2: Title belongs to whoever made the vampire movie "Let the Right One In."

****

Lisa knows he's there. She thinks Ben does too. By unspoken consent they decide not to tell Dean anything.

It's just little things. A flicker of color where there shouldn't be anything, a prickling feeling on the back of her neck when she's sitting at the dinner table listening to Dean talk about the wall he ripped out today and how he's gonna run some pipe up through it tomorrow before they put the wall back, and Ben whines about how his teacher gives him too much homework.

Once she actually sees him-a tall man in shadow, leaning on the side of a black car staring into her house. Lisa, a voice whispers in her head, and a cold shudder ripples down her spine. Then the wind blows, the shadows shift, and he blows away like ash.

Ben has nightmares. The tall man in black, he says, and Lisa knows.

God forgive her for not saying anything to Dean, but she thinks he deserves to not know, after everything.

Sometimes, when she's alone, she'll see him through the glass on the door, all in shadow even when the sun's still up, even when she leaves the porchlight on. She'll hear him knock.

"It's me," a voice whispers, "Open up. It's Sam."

Lisa doesn't "open up". She closes her eyes and tries to remember that there's a triple deadlock on the door and an alarm in place and, hell, rock salt in the kitchen. He knocks and whispers and Lisa doesn't cry, not even a little bit, not even when he says "Lisa, I know you're there. I can hear you, Lisa. I can feel you."

After everything, Dean deserves to believe that Sam's dead.
