Back is doing much better. Won't be bowling this week though -- no sense in pushing it.
Poker practice is going great -- last night, placed 5th out of 314 players in a $5 no-limit marathon (four hours!). Would have done even better if not for an incredibly boneheaded play near the end (called a huge all-in bet with king-jack suited, hit the jack and lost to a pair of pocket queens) and some bad luck on my last hand (with a 2000 blind coming up, went all-in for about 950 with king-five of spades, hit the five but lost to a two-four of hearts when the big blind pulled the baby straight). Walked away with about $80 -- but, damn, I wanted that first prize of $400.
I have to say, I am really getting into no-limit now -- I've pretty much stopped playing limit hold 'em. As long as I stay focused on my game (stay tight until the very end, bet but not check with decent hands, bet aggressively with very good hands, slow-play with monster hands, and change things up every so often to confuse the more attentive players, bluff only against tight players and never against the short stack, etc.), and I don't get too unlucky, I can win -- even when people bet crazy.
T minus eleven days to Vegas, and counting....
