There was a debate about Mac vs PC between me and mine.
He: (bitterly) Yeah, but I had a Mac that packed it in after two years...
Me: ... ... (long look)... You mean the 5y old laptop I gave to you that only died 2y later when a kitten knocked a glass of water all over it?
He: ...
Me: You're absolutely right. How dare the daily used 7year old Mac laptop (that never glitched or put a foot wrong) die after getting a vase of water poured over it thanks to a small cat? I'm sure a PC would have been utterly fine given the circumstance...
He went to bed after that. (In fairness he hasn't had much sleep recently.)
Still. Please don't try to fob me off about a past that I was there for to win or skew an argument - that's just kinda insulting.
