I read an article recently on how UK cuisine doesn't greatly use spices and how that happened. All down to people following the fashion of perfectly pairing specific ingredients. The more subtle the flavours the more 'educated' your palate, apparently. bleh.
(and gosh, don't you cut a dash in the second breeches pic! I see why ladies required fanning back in the day!)

Is that what it was? Goddamn it - fashion has no business in the kitchen - it ruins everything! I saw a print advert for Sainsburys the other day; it advocated putting instant coffee into bolonaise sauce to perk it up. I have no idea if that's fashion but it sounds bloody disgusting =P
Heehee - thank you =) That was the day of course that the postman called, not any of the other days when I just looked mildly unusual. (He did not swoon at the sight of me, he just looked confused, but then again he wasn't a young lady so I suppose it's understandable.)

I am weirdly tempted to try the coffee thing.... I have in the past been pleasantly surprised by a bletch sounding combo.
