Ormskirk.

Ever since the 18th Century thing, I've been wanting to steal my mother's desk.

It's a beautiful Georgian piece with draws and cubbyholes and even with secret compartments for important documents or money and things. (It also has a library cabinet that sits on top of it that's full of antique crystal glasses... This, incidentally, is one of a whole list of reasons why I can't actually steal it.)

So I figured the simpler thing would be to buy my own. I didn't really expect the internet to oblige me in this matter - nice antique furniture tends to be far too rich for my meager pocketbook. But it did: a battered but whole Georgian bureaux with many draws and cubbyholes, for 85quid.

Added to this, I saw it came from Ormskirk. (Which I didn't know was an actual place, I just know it as the name of a minor magician who wrote 'Revelations of Thirty Six Other Worlds' in Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell.) So even my desk has Strangite and Norrellian tendencies - this makes my neurons happy.

I now just have to wait to hear back from the man-with-the-van I employed to collect it.
