Farewell, VeryFarAway. Hello... Oh. It's you.

Last day in Hawai'i was spent with the grandparents who took us down to Kona to see the Hilton hotel. It's a huge complex of pretend with its own tram line and river boats. It's full of enormous statues and strange looking ibibs-type birds. It is also full of tourists of the type who would rather swim in a pool than walk ten yards to their left and swim in the beautiful ocean from a lava beach that's RIGHT THERE.

You might be getting the impression I didn't care for the Hilton much. On top of this, Kona is very hot and humid - it's not somewhere I enjoy taking a stroll. That and the bars weren't open, so after being carted around this monstrosity of a place getting sweaty and bored, we couldn't even cool down with a drink. Very very grumpy Corvid.

Things improved markedly when we left and went to the bar on the beach where Uncle Tommy and Logan were playing their set. Live music, sunset, a drink, a patch of shade and some food cheered me up and stopped me being quite so vexed with the world. Later in the evening there was a lady dancing Hula, and she asked for volunteers to dance with her. I was rather pressganged into it, but it was a lot of fun. Hula is all about narrating a song in your movements - secret story-telling dance code. It's very cool.

Back home at 1am, up at 4am to catch a plane. Land in LA at 4pm; shuttle takes three hours to get us home. Highly unimpressed keechers. No key for us at the house. Had to break in. No truck keys, had to be tricksy to obtain those too. Both now pissed off and exceptionally hungry. Sushi place won't accept debit or credit cards over the phone. K almost ready to kill things. Manage to see Erin and Nico only for about 20mins before they have to go home for the evening. *sigh*

Try to do tax things, but are told we have to go to a different office that's 1hr drive away and it's too late to go today. Fail to do it the next morning as jetlag means we both sleep in. Get shuttle to go to the airport. Discover we'd been over-enthusiastic as flight was actually tomorrow. Get back on shuttle and go back home. Wheee.

Today we go back to the airport and try again.

In short; screw you FarAway, we both know you suck.

pele's home, update, random acts of bastard
