The post I owe lj is growing fatter by the day *sigh*.
But I have to finish jackets, so this very little story snippet will have to do instead.

“I think,” she said diplomatically, “time and bourbon are conspiring against you.”

He focused on her, which was easy - it was the rest of the room he was having trouble with. “Nonsense, darlin’,” he drawled, his words a little mussed at the edges. “Time and bourbon are definitely with me.”

She gave a muffled laugh at his imperious tone. “Should go to bed...”

“Forward of you!” he murmured.

Another snort. “Goddamnit, Preach, you’re soaked,” she huffed.

He looked scandalized, rising with less than his customary certainty. “Darlin’ - what a thing to say! I most certainly - might well be,” he finished smoothly, allowing her to take his arm.
