I rather love Canterbury, once you've fought your way through the tourists. I took the smallest class I ever had there about 7 years ago and the guide told my boys the goriest version of the murder of Thomas Beckett, which made my Tom very happy since he was an exceedingly gory nine year old.

There was rather a lot of skipping-around-the-tourists, but I'm sure I had my revenge in stopping quite suddenly and without warning at intervals in the middle of walkways to stare at some bit of ceiling that was extra-pretty =)

I think more adults ought to drink coke floats. (I haven't had one since I was ten, but when it was suggested I thought it was a fine idea!) I think they should be served in pubs. It won't fix the world, but it might stop numerous petty problems before they start.

I'm jealous that you got gory Beckett murder tales - that sounds really cool.

Coke floats are the way to go. When I moved into my own place, it was one of the first things I had.

The guide we had on that day was a star. I think Tom was so used to me telling him gory stories that he was a little surprised to hear some-one else's voice and therefore paid rapt attention, which made the guide very happy.
