...I have loved these words for a while, but with the investiture of emotion played out by the earlier stories, Bellau, Morrow, and the rest, it's inspiring of slack jawed wonderment.
Cait has her own horribly mangled version ('tend the flame in bonewood city, take the souls with grace and pity, the Seeker needs a-savin'...') which has legend lore in it for the Clan. But even the real version is in my head as a very 'Cait' song - it's old sounding and peculiar, hints at more than it tells and seems to have one foot in reality and one in the ghost lands.
I could teach you how to sing it in a somewhat fekked Southern accent if you're ever bored or drunk enough to try - well, not 'sing' as I really can't. But declaim it. Or something. Hm. Probably not the best idea I've had all day... =P
