On the Waterfront...

So I have AFI's List of 100 Years, 100 Movies in my netflix Que. I'm watching On The Waterfront. I've always loved the priest in that movie. Why the heck is it so hard to find a good Christian character like that in movies anymore?

Mostly because you're looking for a straight-up "Hey guys! I'm a christian over here!" character, I think. Like rstevens said, the deck's stacked against a portrayal along those lines, for the time being. Still, every so often, a decent out-and-out character finds its way in, such as Matthew McConaughey's in Contact, or David Thewlis' character in Kingdom of Heaven ( ... )
