a letter to us!
Hey, guys! I got this fantastic email a week or so ago from a fellow X-Wing fan in Singapore. I asked if I could share it with you, and she said yes, so here we go:
Dear otahyoni,
Hi, I'm Joanna, I'm 25 and live in Singapore, and I've been a big X-Wing fan since I was 15, but have never got in touch with the visible online X-Wing community before. The story is: when I first obtained Internet access all those years ago, I remember being thrilled and amused at the discovery of the then-still-existing rebelpilots.com and AFW. However, I wasn't a big fan of the fanfic available then (though to be sure some were very good), as I felt that at the time there was too many fics dominated by slash and it was difficult to find high-quality canon fics (I'm a canon girl myself).
Many years of not reading fanfic went by.
Then, I recently had to study hard for a post-graduate exam, which required intensive, no-distraction study.
So what did I do? Of course, I started reading X-Wing fanfic again for the first time in years. (haha... well, I still passed, praise God)
And I found that the scene had changed, beyond my wildest expectations. THERE WAS SO MUCH GOOD FIC OUT THERE, most of it perpetrated by the online wraithsquadron LJ community. You guys are amazing. So much of it is so good!!!
So, I thought I should write to you, and rave to you a little about how much I like your writing. :D I mean, LOVE!!
