My memories of Kung Fu and David Carradine

Wrote this back a couple months ago but kept not getting around to posting it….

Back before Stargate SG-1 or Stargate Atlantis, I was a big fan of the series Kung Fu: The Legend Continues (aka KFTLC), the sequel to old ABC series Kung Fu, which oddly enough, I never watched. Best of all, I found out a friend was working on the series, so I was able ( Read more... )

Hey,

I was up in Toronto for 2 of the Fu Fests and I was at the Hockey Game as well. We came down in the elevator with Robin Thick, who was so full of himself he wouldn't even push the down button that was right in front of him. I had to put my stuff down and move around him and push the button. He just put on his sun glasses.

RDA had just had surgery on his knee not long before that game and was still recuperating. I met him in the lobby, but he was on his way out the door for dinner.

All the other Celebes at the party were very nice and happy to sign stuff. One of the Fu Fests I went to was a tour of the set while the cast and crew was on vacation, but it was great; loved the Temple set.

I met David Hewlett (think it was the last one, almost all the cast came to that one accept Chris) on one of those Fests. I have a picture of him which I wanted to show to his sister when I met her in Jersey at the SG-1/SGA con. But I forgot to bring it.

I never met Chris at any of the Fu Fests, only at the hockey game. I met David at one of them though and bought his book to get signed. I have great memories and lots of pictures from them. Kim Chan was a doll and I’m glad that I had the chance to meet him.

I probably ran into you at one or all of them?

Yeah, I did both Fu Fests, the hockey game. gads we may have even talked to each other back then! Oh yeah, Kim Chan was fun to talk with, in fact, I think I talked to virtually all the cast - except David Carradine, unless the bug stare time counts as communication:). I remember the hockey game was sparsely attended as it was during the anthrax scare, wasn't it? I was like, I don't care, I'm going!

I could have cared less about an anthrax scare. All I know was I bought the tickets for the game and the party after and I was going.

Did you enjoy the party. Great music and to finally get to see Chris sing on stage, I liked Mustang Sally! I also liked that he came to the con room (or who's room got used to have him visit, getting told we were making too much noise). We had group pictures, were you in any of them?

As for David, when I got his book signed I got the glassy stare, he looked up at me at the time before he signed. He seemed to be looking right through me though. LOL Boy was he 3 sheets to the wind and it was morning!

I had a lot of fun though. I met a really nice actor, that I didn't know his name but I had seen him on TV. He was looking for directions to his room. He was so polite, a far cry from Alan Thick the jerk!

Ohmygod, yes, I remember Mustang Sally! :) I don't think I was at that party with the group pictures though; must have missed it (darn). Yeah, someone else told me when David signed his book at one con, he was definitely out of it, to be polite. I didn't even run into Alan Thicke, but the younger lesser-known actors were all nice guys.

All the other actors were great people. Alan Thick was not at the party, we just were in the elevator with him and he was so full of himself. I've met a lot of actors over the years and most were great people but a few were jerks.

You missed the con suite. We stayed up late just to wait for Chris to come visit the room. Like I said we were making so much noise that someone came up to ask us to keep it down. The door to the room was open and we were laughing and talking so much. Chris is a very nice person!

I believe the room belonged to one of the girls that was there for the game. We just all conglomerated in it and waited for Chris to arrive at the hotel.

He was invited to the room and we didn’t even know if he was going to stop by or not.

You should have found out about it somehow because it was the KF:TLC club members that were there.
