How long Will the suffering continue ?
Sometimes reality is harder than imagination. Maximum of us , common people , walk and move keeping their eyes in pocket , So we miss the world , no , miss the suffering of the world and get busy with ourselves. I was not aware of that until I met Anik and a little part of his life. I thought this teenager helped me to open my eyes and see the world and the time he did this valuable work was one of the perfect and happy moment which assisted to keep his story in me.
Anik’s God was , perhaps , a different one or made him bound to play such a role. “Bound” because nobody , it seems to me , would like to play as villain or a very normal character . They do when there is no way. Another thing , also , might be and that is his God creates and managed his life differently. Whatever , I am confused either of the above and No doubt about his suffering . He must be one of the live examples of proving that Bangladesh is still under poverty.
It was last 29th June. We were four in numbers , Symum ,Nayeem , Ryan (an American) , and me. After a long walk , when we entered into TSC to have lunch I noticed a little baby was running , laughing and making extreme noises in the field .In could not but stop. I was too weary to discover everything at first sight as I did usually. No , there were not only a baby but an American came with Ryan. The boy was throwing a tennis ball above with his highest strength and Team (The American) was catching. They were continuing this. I started walking as I was too angry to care of anything , “We failed to smile them though we visited wonderful places but this little kid did this within some seconds!!! I wish I could get him in the morning when we got out!” commenting this.
When our lunch was over , the boy came directly towards me and showed me a book presented by Ryan. I saw it and asked whether he had had his lunch or not as it was lunch time . He answered negative. At that time I tried to remember my wallet , it responded negative too but I did not worry ‘Cause Symum was with me and she could tackle me in such situation. The boy said “No, I won’t.” I persuaded and he told finally , “I don’t have lunch . I am accustomed to it. This sentence quacked me and made him different in my eyes. So I got curious to know about him.
“What’s your name?”
“Anik” he answered promptly and confidently.
I told him to take a seat showing a blue (He seemed to me elite) empty chair just before me. He made me astonished by sitting on the floor. I got angry because he went to shutter my belief about him. I said in a soft voice “sit on the blue chair.”
Anik: “it’s ok”
My curiosity was swelling and told again , “I have given you the chair to sit , sit on the chair”
Then he sat, “Can anyone say why Anik didn’t want to sit on the chair first???
I: “Where do you live”
Anik: “I lived in Wari but right now in Chankharpool.”
I: “Why did you leave wari ? Who did you with?”
He: “I lived with my mom. As my father left her and us , she is the only earning member in our family. That time I couldn’t earn, So she left me out off the home.
My question is to the readers “ When and why does a mother leave her heart out off home?
Anik continued , “Now a days I live with my grandma and work in a sandal company in Bangabazar.”
Perhaps Anik could guess the question I would ask about his work.
“Which types of sandal ?”
He showed his and mine and also commenced to show how he works. Then I returned to his very beginning speech , “ Why didn’t you have lunch?”
“We usually eat one time , only supper. We don’t do it willingly or to keep our body fit but the money we earn doesn’t support us to eat 2 times let alone 3.” Informed he.
I could not keep control upon my tears.
He continued , “ And when I get chance sometimes to eat lunch or breakfast , I don’t take. What if it becomes habit, my mind wants to eat on the next day!!
Who will answer his questions?
This is the one Anik I met in the campus but there are thousands Aniks who even did not dare to eat when they get chance thinking of the future.
Should our Government Do anything for them ???
