A Magical Shop In Boishakhi Fair. (Golden Fun)

Aug 14, 2014 12:21

At first I must admit that we were the smartest of our village. I will of our village. I will also add that the ‘We’ I mentioned is ‘we’ except ‘me’ . This is because I was not too smart to do the work they did (my friends!!!) So you are still confused about what we did , aren’t you?
Well I am here to make it clear but before that let me add some lines to aid those who are not very known to Bangladeshi culture and Boishakhi fair .
Boishakh is the first month of Indian calendar. As the history of Bengali people and Bangladesh was belonged to India , the calendar is followed in Bangladesh as Bangladeshi calendar.
On the occasion of the first Boishakh ( Pahala Boishakh = Bengali happy new year ) , there are observed many programmes belonged to the local culture. Boishakhi fair is one of the most important gathering which has come from the history of ancient Bangla.

In fair , One can buy and sell different types of toys made by soil and plastic . Many incidents like staging plays , concert are performed by the local people. People are seen to go to fair with their children and buy toys for them. The most significant business is selling lottery , And this was the first source of our business. A business or ……..!!!!!!

The First Boishakh (Morning). The sun was not yet hot.
Some children gathered as usual and started their disordered speeches. “Disorder” because no one of them was aware of the subject they talked about. The conversation and interruption was going on . The subject got priority was the fair.

“What if we set a shop in the fair..” suggested Asif.
Everyone got stopped and commenced to think. After a few minutes Selim said , “But How?”
Asif got confused , “ Mm that’s the question , What can be done?”
Everyone started to mock with him. If you have any experience about village children it will be easy for you to picture the situation. Anyway I am trying my best to illustrate that with my unsmart words.
Tushar said them to stop and proposed a new idea , “We can sell lottery , of course.” Still some of them who are known as a ideal mocker, Ruhul said ,
“well , even if you want to sell lottery you must have to give something with the lottery.”
“Why , What’s about chocolate??” added Tushar.
“ You can not write chocolate on your all lottery , can you?” said Rahul.
Exactly , People were not too fool to buy a chocolate every time buying lucky coupon.
Asif started to rag his brain and this time he revenged of his getting mocked , He said ,
“We can make some toys with soft soil and make them dry in the sun . After adding colour on the shell we can sell them.”

All of them thought about that and began to work to have true their plan. As they were not very few in numbers they completed the work of soil within two hours. After three hours they dyed the toys they made . Some elephants, horses, birds were the toys. They bought a packet of chocolate and some papers to write and these cost 25 taka that time. You might be glad to hear that the packet contained over hundred chocolates.
At last they finished their preparation and stepped towards the fair. The fair was not very far from their dwellings. It took 20 minutes to reach there . They got a little space to fix their temporary shop.
Dear reader , I will request you to remember one thing and that is the capital of our business was 25 taka. This is very important for this short story because ……you will understand, just go ahead…

They started to sell lottery . It’s price was 1 taka. Suddenly Rahul gave a plastic bird and said Asif to keep it in the shop. He said the story of getting the bird. All of the liked this and started to do the same. The appearance of the shop changed in one hour. They began to sell plastic toys , soil made toys , wooden toys and so one. They were selling and selling but the things were increasing and increasing . I just saw them and got astonished as you are right now. Really it was a real magic I had ever noticed.

I asked Rahul , “How do you bring this , doesn’t the keeper see?”
Rahul said with an amicable flash , “This is fair and there are many customers , so is quite impossible to see a little baby like me when I bring toys from their shop.”
“So what do you do actually?”
“I went and stand in front of the shop as a customer. I hold toys and looked at the shopkeepers. They don’t have time to see me all the time. When other customers talk about prices I turned and if they do not notice I start to work.” Said Rahul.

I thought myself , “It’s really easy.”

I took step to do the same as they did to show that I could too. I went in front of a shop but when I stood the shopkeeper called me , “Hey baby, come on>”
I fell in real tension because I didn’t yet do anything. I went and he held my hand asked in a very soft voice,
“What’s your name, baby?
“Frank”
“What class do you read?”
“Five”
“You must be a good guy when you will be young.”
Wished he and handed me a black sweet ,Perhaps he bought some for himself. I changed my mind and asked myself what I should have done. Should have I said my friends our shop with his shop??
Anyway , I did not do that.

I went back to the shop to know the final result. What I heard made me stone , “How is it possible??”
They cashed more than 2000 taka (Bangladeshi Currency Unit) and the products I saw might cost over 1000 taka.

We returned to home with cheerful mind. They ,it seems to me, slept well that night but I could not stop my eye lad thinking , “How did they do that?” . I was also thinking the sentence was pronounced by the shop keeper , “.I must be a good guy when I will be young”
