VIRAL has officialy been shot! YAY! Finally, after a year of waiting, we have footage ready to be edited together for your viewing pleasure.
For the most part, I had an amazing time. It was fun getting to work with my friends on this project. David and I worked very well together. He learned a whole lot, and I'm very happy that he was able to just dive in and soak things up like a sponge.
Our actors were great. Given that the script was re-writen days before the shoot, their performances were awesome. I'm glad that they took the script and ran with it. They were able to bring the characters to life, and even though we never had a rehersal with the new script they did amazing.
My only regret with the whole project was the lack of planning with Zach, our Director of Photography. We've been trying to get this made for the past year and when I lived in Nac it was easy to talk to Zach and get things prepared, but since I moved back down to Houston life takes over and you loose more and more control of getting things planned out. Every time David and I tried to meet up with Zach for at least a days worth of prep (which would have been more than enough time and would have helped out greatly) it would fall through in some way. I'm not upset about it at all, but no matter what the next time we have to be as prepared as possible. Shooting by the seat of your pants can be interesting and get the blood going, but in the end one needs to have things ready for a smoother shoot, that, and the miricle of people not cutting thier grass at 5 in the evening.
All in all Zach did an awesome job given the fact that we had no shots prepared due to him not seeing the location till the day of shooting. David and I told him our ideas and he told us what he had in mind, and we just put it all together and came out with something that should be very cool.
This short film wasn't meant for festivals or anything like that. It was meant for David, Zach, and I to gain experience working together. It was meant to bring entertaiment to those that will watch it. And lastly, it was meant to have fun. I think that the final product will show that all three goals were met. I want to thank everyone that helped us out and supported us through out the creation of this short. We couldn't have done this with out you.
Now comes the editing. Trust me, when it's finished I'll let you know. Til then, ta ta.
