Movie Review: THE FOUNTAIN

I don't usually use this blog to promote things or anything to that effect, but in the case of the movie THE FOUTAIN I must break my own rules and give my opinion and (I'll spoil the review now) high recommendation the this breath-taking motion picture.

I don't know what people thought when they first saw the trailer for this movie, but I know, like me, they didn't know much more than it is a love story that spans over a thousand years, well, at least that's what I thought when I saw the trailer. I'll say this now, NOT EVERYONE WILL LIKE THIS MOVIE. Even though the core to this movie is very basic, the way it is stuctured will confuse some people and sadly, those people will not look past that and in turn end up hating the flick.

Once again Darren Aronofsky uses his visual creative super powers to construct a beautiful world that feels completely epic. The odd thing is, the movie really isn't that big in terms of locations, but it just feels like there is so much more. Hugh Jackman also gives a performance of a life time. He is simply amazing. And Rachel Weisz is as beautiful as ever.

I cannot say much about the movie's plot because that'll pretty much give away the whole movie and I cannot say what anyone else will take away from the flick when they watch it. This is one of those movies where everyone will take away something different. I read a review where Darren gave his interpretation about what the movie is about and I got something completely different from it. But I will say this, after the movie I was speechless. I couldn't help but to just go into my mind and examine all different things about life, love, loss, faith, reality...everything. The movie stuck with me for days and to tell you the truth, it's still on my mind.

If you're going to see this movie I recommend not expecting anything. Just go in with an open mind and take it all in. Give it a chance. I highly recomend this movie because it is a stunning piece of work that is both beautiful and thought-provoking. Get a small group, go watch it, then hit up a coffee joint and talk about the phenomenon which is, The Fountain.

I'll get more info on what's going on in my life in a day or so. There's not much to catch up on, but then again, there's always stuff to catch up on...yup. PEACE!
