PREMISE & WORKINGS

So, what exactly is this RP's deal? How will this work?

WORKING IN THE NEWSPAPER:

By all means, you are allowed to make up your own stories and have your characters write about them or photograph them. Currently, a newspapery medium that your characters can post to is still in the making--but for now, if you have substantial stories to write feel free to post them in your RP journal.

EVENTS:

Every now and then the NPC account will post in the main RPG community and start a thread concerning a 'breaking news event.' Murder? Bar fight? Armed robbery? It will happen and your characters will flock to it (and maybe participate in the fist fights or gun parties). Be sure to bring your cameras, notebooks, pens, and tape recorders.

Or, depending on the situation, a general explanation of what happened will take place and your characters may react (these events may be what make or break a possible promotion). Or maybe, specifically to your character, the Head Supervisor or Editor in Chief may flag down your character and ask for a story.

A suggested events post & calendar is available in case you have any suggestions for events! (f-locked)

JOURNALS:

Well, with the all great internets that we have in Metropolis, characters can keep their own livejournals. Friending your co-workers is mandatory (the friend add/remove list is f-locked), but you are free to use filters in order to make things private or public. Journal RP-ing will be in first person and over the computer--so there will be no such *action posts* unless you decide to do an impromptu log.

THE CITY:

And what about Metropolis? What kind of buildings are there? Frankly, if you want a building, then it will be there for you. There is no set map, no set buildings. Just make it up. There are no restrictions of space or buildings in Metropolis--don't question it, it's srs magic. The following things, however, are permanent fixtures and should be referred to as such:

CITY HALL
CENTRAL PARK
THE METROPOLITAN LIBRARY
THE METROPOLITAN BANK
THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS
R2G THEATER
...and Serious Weasley's Pawn Shop. Run by a very serious Weasley.

CONTACT POSTS AND AIM:

Firstly, what IS a contact post? Here's an example.

It is highly encouraged (but not mandatory) that you make one of these, so characters can contact you IC-ly aside from journal entries and logs. You can also make an AIM screen name/use an existing screen name for your character, so that they can have IC AIM conversations.
