This post was written through out today.
I am so angry right now. I cannot express in words the rage and frustration I feel at this moment in time. My dad and I just flew into El Paso to pick up my “ready” car. We take a taxi to the Dick Poe body shop, where my car is. We look it over, everything seems to check out, I pay my deductible and the friendly Curtis tells me we’re done. Dad and I get in, gas up, and head towards I-10. Ten miles down, I try to resume my cruise control and every major system light pops on, just like they did as I wrecked. This also means that the computer thinks that it needs to have stability control on, so steering becomes about 50% harder, and braking is treacherous, always a good thing when one is traveling on I-10. So now we’re back at the Toyota service place and they are pretty nonchalant about the entire situation, and all I can think is that they’ve had my car for 53 days, and why the hell hasn’t every system in this car been double checked so that when I travel to fucking El Paso, a cesspool of civilization, it will be fucking ace. But no, there is something wrong with my car. Lord, please let it be something easily fixable, but somehow I doubt it. Knock on wood for me people…
So, here I am, two and a half hours later, still at Dick Poe Toyota. Apparently, according to the service manager, the culprit seems to be my battery is carrying a low charge, and that is triggering these codes in my system. Luckily, there is another Prius battery in town, it is just on the other side of it, so we are now waiting for it to be brought over, installed, charged, and tested. The service manager has assured us that he will personally road test it, and I think I might have to insist that dad and I travel along on that test. Then, perhaps, I’ll have a working car again…perhaps. Either way, it looks like I am stranded in El Paso for the second time this summer. I figure even if this fixes everything, and we are all-systems go, it will be about 6 or 7 pm, and then how far can I really get? It is a two day drive, unless you go straight through, and neither my dad nor I are in shape to do that right now. He is sick, and I am super stressed about this. So that is where things stand right now at 4:45pm in El Paso.
Alright, so they put the new battery in and it seems to have fixed the issue, but I didn’t want to drive across West Texas as it was getting dark to find out if it really did work. So dad and I are at a hotel, and we’ll get going tomorrow. So between the flight mess and the car it has been an exhausting day. I’ll catch y’all later.
