So, on Monday I rented a car and hit the road, continuing on to Florida. I figured I already had the plane ticket and another night in the hotel was half the price of the car rental (plus insurance will reimbursed for the rental) so I might as well continue on with my car load of junk. I was given a Kia Sorento by Hertz, or as I like to call it, a death trap. This thing handled terribly, didn't have anti-lock breaks (found that out the semi-hard way), and its center of gravity was somewhere about 12 feet off the ground. Plus, I really couldn't fit anything more in it than I could in my Prius, and the gas mileage was ass. So it was an unpleasant two days of driving.
And in honor of how much commercial radio sucks, I present to you the most overplayed songs of my two day drive!
5) Temperature - Sean Paul. Okay, so this one I didn't hear that often on the actual drive, but it makes the list because of how much it is overplayed in general.
4) Hips Don't Lie - Shakira. This song I still kinda like, that being said, I'd probably like it a lot more if I didn't hear it for a month or so.
3) SOS - Rihanna. This song isn't terrible, but I cannot forgive the sampling of "Tainted Love." Besides Pon de Replay is much catchier.
2) Me & U - Cassie. The amazing thing about this song is that I had never heard it before I made it to the outskirts of San Antonio. I have now heard it about 12 times and it is still not very good. The beat is kinda catchy, but the lyrics are pretty meh. There are a lot better skank-jams out there than this.
1) Ridin' - Chamillionaire. What can I say about this crap? At one point when I was searching for music as opposed to commercials I hit a 3 station series in which one after the other this song came on or was in the middle of playing as I scanned to each one. I was astounded. Besides, this crap thug rap is so lame that I am amazed at its popularity...as Black Gallagher would say "I Got Warrants!"
(dis)Honnorable Mentions: I Write Sins Not Tragedies - Panic! At The Disco; Wake me up When September Comes - Green Day; You're Beautiful - James Blunt
So, 5 - 3 I actually kinda like the songs, they are just way overplayed. Kelly Clarkson probably should have made the list for any of her songs, but damn if they aren't close to perfect pop, and I will not apologize for liking it. It was so bad I almost stopped at an electronics store to pick up a Sirius kit for my rental car. However, in the truck drive I will have a tape adapter for my iPod, so I should be okay.
Well I should go back to packing. I am rapidly approaching that point where most everything is packed and it is getting down to the stuff that doesn't really have a home but needs to be packed. So I took this break to write this and play around on iTunes.
Catch y'all later.
