So this is a long story.
So my moving to tucson has been an adventure that I am ready to have end. Vicky and I went to Tucson in late October to find a place to live, and it was difficult and frustrating. Finally we found a very nice guest house that we liked very much. We got a lease for it, and went back to Tally thinking we were all good.
So we tried to figure out how to get our stuff and our two cars out to Tucson. Vicky's cousin works for a moving company, and said she could get a great deal. We wanted to move out mid-December and set up our house before we flew home for Christmas. Well, at the end of November vicky's cousin told us that would be no problem...became a problem. Based on the idea that we would have our stuff in Tucson around the 16th, I get my plane ticket to p'cola for the 20th.
A week later she calls us and tells us our stuff cannot be picked up until the 18th. This is a problem in that my flight is on the 20th, it takes 3 days to drive out, and we have to be there to have our stuff loaded and unloaded. So we get our friend travis to open the appartment to have the movers get our stuff, and we'll be on our merry way driving.
Six days before we are to head out, we get a call from our landlord telling us we don't get to live in the house that we have a lease for because her mother wants to move back into her house. She offers us the opportunity to live in the front house (which we have not seen) for the same price.
So we get on the road to start our 1800 mile trek. Around Baton Rouge we get a call from Vicky's cousin, telling us the truck that our stuff was supposed to be on was already full. So, we have to have our stuff picked up by a truck returning to Ft. Lauderdale a day early, it will stay down there until we head back out in January. We call our friend to have our apartment opened a day early. Blah.
So we drive without incident to Tucson, and arive at our new apartment to find it open. Contrary to what we were told, the power is not on in the house. So we have to find a hotel to stay at and figure out what to do...which is nothing much. Our options are pretty much rent the place. The apartment is alright, but the kitchen is awful. It is worse than my kitchen in Tally, and that is saying something. However, the landlords agree to renovate the kitchen a bit and add some cabnets and a dishwasher.
So we get almost none of our stuff out there, and none of our house set up.
Well, last night Vicky called me...a water pipe burst in the apartment, rendering it unlivable for a bit. When we get out there we will temporarily live in the back house until the front house is again liveable.
On the bright side, with all that has gone wrong, it has gone a little right. Our stuff wasn't there when the pipe burst, and it has led to a renovation of the front house. So...maybe it is all for the best. We'll see
