First off, for those who may not know yet, I have a girlfriend! Her name is Vicky, and she is amazing. She is in the department and is a Middle Eastern-ist. Wow. She is great.
Today was fast and amazing. Woke up and decided to hit up the office to try and get some grading done before the department party. I started grading and discovered a snag: there are 8 IDs worth a total of 50 points...that math doesn't work out even. So it took me a while to figure out the conversion. Then I started grading, and then it was party time. The party was great, I got to socialize with people in the department, and the word is undeniably out in the department that Vicky and I are a couple. The best part of this is when Fritz (my master prof, and one whom Vicky has graded for) walked up to us as we were holding hands and asked in a demanding tone "So...What is this?!" Vicky nearly died as she went red and started laughing. After the party we headed back to the department, and I went back to grading. Vicky went to help proctor one of our newest doctor's exam. Then, in a fit of madness, I decided to take one of the other AMH 1000 tests. It was great, Vicky and I both got 66% correct. It was weird.
So, Vicky and I were supposed to meet up with her friends, but that fell through, but I did get to meet her roommate, Patrick. He is gay, and seems like a very cool guy. More friends are to come, I am sure. But anyway, Vicky and I had a very important and very good conversation about relationships in general. Then I finally, after 12 hours away, came home. Now I am writing here. Because while I cannot write and explain why today means anything, I simply know that today is a watershed day.
Today was such a good day.
