Pat bought me ice cream for breakfast for this morning. He is the sweetest man, and he certainly knows the ways to win my heart over and over again.
Last night we watched the second part of Lubrication, the Russell Howard Netflix comedy special. The second part is a documentary about what happened when Covid hit the UK. He was getting ready to leave for a huge World Tour. His wife, who is a doctor, was taking the year off to go with him. Then suddenly there was Covid.
His wife went back to work, and sent him to live with his parents because she didn't want to expose him to Covid, and she would be working on Covid wards. So the documentary starts with him going home to live in his childhood bedroom. It's really well done and interesting in how he coped, and the things he ended up doing. He said that he realized his job, making people laugh, was important because he could bring laughter to people who were suffering horrible losses and terrible fear.
And yet, you knew he was going through things himself, no physical contact with his wife for a year. I can't imagine that.
I recommend it, too.
Yesterday was crazy day at work. One of the poor young people in Donor Scheduling spent 27 minutes on the phone with a donor trying to explain to him where the period was on his keyboard so he could order his e-gift card. I had to deal with multiple couples who use the same email address and thus only gotten an e-gift for one of them and now wanted the second sent. (I cannot imagine using the same email as Pat.)
It was just madness all day, and then I had boxing. I came home exhausted, but now I have three days off, and it makes me happy. We're starting off today by having sushi with my climbing partner, Dawn. I hope that all of you have a wonderful Christmas!
