Finished the new douglas coupland book
the gum thief
every review I read called it an "epistolary" novel
not a word I hear in everyday conversation
even in a book store
it means a book written as a series of letters or correspondence
between people
like 'griffin & sabine' and other shit I've never read
I really liked the premise and execution
it has the usual coupland ideas
-single parents
-outsiders
-vancouver
but it was unlike any other novel I've read by him
and I have read them all
I really liked it
though be forewarned
don't put it down in the middle
it will make you feel like the most worthless piece of shit in the world
