Great great idea for a post. I've actually had a discussion about the subject because I honestly feel some people choose to ignore all those moments just to make their point valid that Naomi isn't gay or that Naomi didn't like Emily before

Great post and my thoughts exactly. As for love at 12, it was love, but puppy love. Then in S3 it matured into adult love. But yes she did feel something for Emily since she was 12.
Yeah, I find it so adorable because it's like one of those little teenage crushes you have on people at school who you never even speak to because you're too scared, hee, and just watch them and crush on them from afar.
Hehe, don't write less! I like a nice lengthy comment ;)

Exactly. I think it's ridiculous that some people just take things at face value, like - Naomi says she isn't gay so she isn't. Naomi acts annoyed by Emily so she doesn't like her. It's like they don't even bother to think about motivation because it's easier for them to pretend like poor straight Naomi was just forced into this relationship by evil stalker Emily, heh.
I think there's also that question about Naomi asking Emily "you're gay?". I feel like Naomi wanted Emily to admit it. In Cook's episode she asks Emily "why does your sister think I AM gay?". Naomi knows the answer to that question.
Yes! I was actually going to mention this and then forgot, haha. I've always found those moments weird because it's like.. she knew Emily was gay, she knew what happened with Katie, so it's like she's just deliberately saying

You are SO RIGHT about Naomi wanting Emily to admit she's gay. I think it's partly because she's so terrified of the situation that she needs to be absolutely sure of Emily before she can even think about showing her own cards. She's not brave, we know this. Which is why it was such a big deal that she was able, at the end of the series, to lay herself completely bare, not just in front of Emily, but in front of Emily and everyone else.
As for the use of the word love... I don't think it's that big a deal. It's just the only word Naomi would think to use now about Emily. It's just the word that came to mind, I think. And let's not forget that Skins, in gen 2 especially, has been very keen to throw that word around where perhaps something less grand would be more appropriate. I do seem to remember something about JJ "loving" Effy, which... lol.
yeah, I agree with you. I think it makes sense she wanted to know about Emily first. She needed that. She was scared of loving Emily and being with Emily also scared her, but loving Emily and not being loved in return could probably be her biggest fear of all. Naomi opening up like that in front of Emily is the bravest she has been, because it's something she has never done before and it's one of her biggest fears, and she faces them all. Opening up in front of Emily and everyone else is just the best proof of love.
LOL you're right about that. I think Pandora also loved Thomas after spending 1 day with him. But yeah, the use of word love there makes sense. she had feelings when she was 12. and now she loves Emily.
