There was a big kids-stuff consignment sale down at the mall last weekend. On Friday Joe and I had a "date day" and part of it was spent wandering around over there seeing if there was anything we coulnd't live with out. We wound up with some really nice red woolen winter jackets for the girls, and one other winter coat that will fit Atla next year, for the three coats we paid $34, not bad for some *really* nice jackets.
The big winner of the afternoon though was a Meleda Pump in Style portable double breast pump. I had the opportunity to use a hospital grade Meleda breast pump for free (for nearly 10 months!) after Alta was born and it was awesome, nothing like sitting down to watch a little TV and 20 minutes later having 10oz of milk ready to pop in the freezer (I'm a damn milk making machine btw). When Lilly was born I bought a cheaper version by a different brand and I didn't like it at all, it was noisy, I couldn't get the suction right, and it only did one boob at a time, and as any nursing mom can tell you all that does is make a mess. The reason I bought the pump that I did with Lilly was because the Meleda pumps are incredibly expensive. I just looked it up over on Amazon the one that I've just purchased, to get it new, would cost me $233.85. I got mine for $25. I need to buy a couple replacement parts, tubes and valves, but I'd say I got the best end of this deal.
In somewhat related news, I'm already looking like I'm pregnant. This is kind of crappy. With Alta at 5 months I had the "pregnant or fat belly?" look and it wasn't until 7 months that I actually looked like I was pregnant. When Alta and I flew home from Germany I was 5 1/2 months along with Lilly and no one could tell. Here I am, not even 13 weeks into this thing and I look all knocked up. This sucks. I guess since I've been feeling better (less all-day-long-sickness) it's about time to actually join the Y. Not that I'm looking to loose weight (though I won't say I'm sad I lost 10lbs the first trimester due to not being able to eat) but at least I can firm things up a bit. On the plus side of all this, I've got boobs! Yay! I'm already filling out my B cup bra!
In completly unrelated news, Joe told me this morning that he's perfectly alright with me being a professional artsy photographer if that's what I want to do. He said that he's got no problem maing the good money and once we get some life and disabilaty insurance out on him he'll be perfectly comfortable with that arangement. That really made me feel good!
