in this dream of life and death, i know so much i will forget...

[Everything sentient dreams, and everything that dreams on Azeroth dreams somewhere within that one Dream composed by the Titans when they first shaped the world. Even the most alien of beings, from Old Gods to soul-draining runeblades, touched some tiny corner of the Emerald Dream, ( Read more... )

I will go as well.

[There is a death knight in the corner, all too willing to join in. The week or so of a relentless storms has not been pleasant. The inn's stockpile of food and drink - he stopped partaking of those several days ago to preserve the supplies - may still hold, but it didn't account for one minor detail.

Well, arguably it did, and the need to kill to hold off the painful torment would be amply supplied by the crowd of trapped denizens, but he had his doubts about said supply's appreciation of the situation.

So, things weren't going so well in the life of Krenyn Bloodflame. Give you three guesses on the two reasons why he's volunteering and the first two don't count.]

[Krenyn's about to find a banana tossed in his general direction by a rogue with her arm in a sling. It's not much, but it's all Sabette can spare. With food supplies running low and all. She doesn't like leaving friends (even the dead ones) in a lurch.]

You better come back safe, you hear me? Because I am NOT launching a rescue mission to wherever it is you're going just to rescue your scrawny elfy behind.

...And be careful. Just 'cause you're dead doesn't mean you can't die again.

[Consider the banana snagged out of the air. Said fruit is studied carefully before the instigator speaks up. This draws Krenyn's attention to Sabette. Her concern is only enhanced by her willingness to fling potassium-enriched missiles at friends.

The key difference between friend and hated enemy is in how rotten the fruit may be at the time, you see.]

I promise I will return. [Taking the time to cross the room, he seeks to place the banana back into Sabette's hands.] Keep your strength up, until I do.

[It's a perfectly ripe and nom-able banana, you see! Only the best for Sabette. And, by extension, her friends. Even the dead and death knight-like ones. Consider yourself a member of her Inner Circle of Awesome People, Krenyn. Feel honored.]

[She shrugs her good shoulder and refuses to take the banana back.]

Hey, you keep it. I've got enough to go by. And you never know! You could get the munchies on the road. That happens to me all the time!

And if it's not too much to ask... can you bring me back a road trip gift? Or at least a good story. I'll accept a good story as payment for the banana.

[The banana is not offered a second time, then. Though he seems, for a moment, to find humor in her suggestion of its merit.]

Thank you.

[Later, out of sight, the banana will be left for someone in more need than himself. No worries, Sabette, he's not trying to starve himself out of some noble obligation. It's just that... with any luck, he'll be getting a far more fruitful (forgive the pun) form of nourishment for his kind, soon.

But, a gift? A story? Only then he seems to hesitate before acknowledging her request with a nod.]

A story. [He sounds almost wistful.] That I can accomplish.

Cool. And in return, I'll scrounge up some information for when you come back!

[She'll never notice that her gift of food was left behind. It was probably a silly gesture, really. But hey! Can't fault her for trying to help, can you? She'd go along, but... bum shoulder does not equal a good little DPS rogue.]

[She probably can't even pass the level requirement, anyway.]

Good luck, Krenyn. Come back safe. I'll do my best to make sure you don't have to rescue anybody else.

[Feverfew waits for Krenyn and Sabette to finish speaking, using the time to polish off the rest of his muffin. Only once they've said their farewells does he address the death knight.]

Thank you.
