It is no secret to the denizens of the Caverns of Time who the rulers in this domain are. The High Elves that bustle about day to day seem to never cease nor falter in their activities to keep each and every resident happy...including some of the delinquents.
Somewhere deep in the Caverns, however, to where no mortal has yet been able to reach, a problem seems to have stirred. Several elves fly about, checking various needles, sundials, and hourglasses in addition to empty platters and broken vials. Sand spills across the ground, though most notable is that of a female high elf cowering before a much larger drake.
"It was an accident, an accident!" the elf pleads, ducking the sweeping head of her superior.
"A mistake is all it takes to destroy the fabric of time! You of all should know that!"
The elf shakes for a moment before dashing away again to another female elf, quickly conversing in hushed tones with her.
"It wasn't just me..." the elf murmurs quietly, checking over her shoulder for eavesdroppers and the like. When she sure there is none, she feverishly continues. "The Black Lotus was mistaken for the seasoning on the meat and someone said there was a touch of Nightmare Vine added to the drink with the Dreaming Glory we had left...I had only thought to sample a bit myself...nothing like this."
The other female's eyes go wide, hanging on every word put forth by her partner. "So...you think someone's trying to frame you?" The storyteller would not. "That's horrible...even that they would take it to this level..."
The storyteller's expression shifts nervously. "W-well it won't be permanent, at least...maybe they won't even notice the change..." Both elves shrug. "I mean...not all mortals have the side effects to some of those herbs...right?"
[OOC: So I decided it was high time for something to go amiss in the Caverns of Time beyond Kingy causing havoc. Basically, for the duration of this post (( or others, if you wish to start threads elsewhere pertaining to this )), the residents may begin to feel...different. There is a mischievous young bronzeling amongst the flight that thought it would be funny to spike the drink and food offered with herbs. If your character doesn't eat normal food...well, everything is recylced at some point and you can take that root if you wish (( IE: Bugs ate the food, character ate the bugs LOOKING AT YOU LARK )). It is, of course, completely optional and up to you what happens to your character. Go nuts! Maybe they drank a drink with Nightmare Vine in it and are hallucinating their worst nightmares. Maybe they drank a bit too much Black Lotus and can't keep it in their pants. Obviously, I ask that you all keep things together within reason, but for the most part, there are no limits! If you're unsure, you can always ask a mod whether something is too farfetched. The examples given were just that--examples. Just make sure you describe the symptoms your character is having for the benefit of those responding to you! But most of all...have fun with it. :) As a side note, this is just an introduction...nothing the characters will see or have any real knowledge of. If you're having trouble thinking of herbs/effects to use, we have a nice floriography post
here you might be able to reference from/add to.]
