Best tanking option in Warlords?

Oct 28, 2014 06:27

One of our raiding team's main tanks retired towards the end of Mists of Pandaria. He might come back with Warlords, but he said even if he does he won't be tanking. I volunteered to take over as one of two main tanks in our raid when the raiding for Warlords starts. The other tank will be a brewmaster monk.

Here's the question: What class should I tank as? At this point, I have a 90 of every possible tanking class and a free-to-90 boost still sitting away unused. What tanking class is the best in Warlords, and how is "best" even defined anyway? I've only ever tanked in 5 mans before and very sporadic raiding, never main-raid-tanked.

I have:
-tauren paladin
-blood elf warrior
-orc death knight
-gnome monk
-troll druid

...plus the unused boost, so I could boost up a second toon of any race/class combo.

We probably don't need a second brewmaster monk, and I never really got the hang of tanking as a death knight, so it's probably Pally, Warrior or Druid for me.

Can any wow_ladies who have tanked on the various classes give me your thoughts, or direct me to some (not too technical) comparisons of the strengths and weaknesses of the classes?

[edit] Thanks for the advice, everyone! :) I eventually decided to go with warrior, and boosted up a new toon on the server rather than paying for a transfer. Say hello to Lady Sif!

advice, raid: warlords of draenor, tanking
