I studied pet breeds a lot shortly after MOP came out for a job application - I didn't get the job but I did learn a lot about pet breeds. This was back when the common vernacular was still 14-4, 16-6, etc. I'm glad most people have turned onto the B/B, H/P, P/P language because it's much easier to remember.

As for my personal teams, I only focus on breeds for pet battling in PvP and doing the legendary beasts dailies. Even so, I've had my butt stomped by a player using a B/B breed pet if one of mine was weak against it (or they timed their stuns and swaps well). Pound for pound, the best payoff on getting a good breed has been the Unborn Valk - it's so rare, most people will take what they can get. However, the ghostly skull also has an H/H breed and unholy ascension, and it's much easier to get. I still don't see all that many people fighting with one, though!

Now that I've got my Tamer title, I'm working on getting good breeds for all the Azeroth pets, but I'm taking it slow. The Crow is the one that's driving me batty right now.
