So.  I have finally leveled a death knight to 90, and I love the character to pieces.  I like her RP concept, I think she could easily nudge my monk out of the top spot in my affections and become my main ( Read more... )

I also have a monk & DK but I use a Steelseries Legendary mouse that has all of my main attacks bound to it. I then use keys 1-6 for longer cooldowns and the buttons on the left of my Logitech gaming keyboard for shorter things and brews.

One thing that I found REALLY helped me with my DK was CLC DK. It's an addon that basically tells you what attacks to use. For my monk, I have some Weak Auras that help me with cooldowns but my DK had just way to many things to track with the runes, runic power and each individual spell cost. So having this is really nice. I can do very competitive dps with it. There is also a CLC Monk out there also though I did not like it as well.

I recently just went through a revamp of my wife's mage interface and we cleaned house. The thing that she said helped her best was clearing out all the buttons she did not need and using Bartender to position the ones that she did need in a visible spot. She is trying to be a keyboarder, but reverts to mouse clicking when she gets stressed. For as casual as she is, she can pull some great numbers when she focuses on just 12 or so buttons. :)

The last thing I do is put similar spells in similar locations. For instance, all of my characters "interrupts" are on R. Tilde is a speed boost. T is my mount. Mouse buttons "one" and "two" are my two main attacks. Doing that has really helped me to be able to switch toons easily.

I can post my keybinding when I get home for my DK if you are interested. I also have an interesting macro that allows you to push one button and do either a Rising Sun Kick or a Blackout Kick depending on whether RSK is on cooldown or not. It's not the greatest but since I don't raid dps with my monk, I don't need to keep optimal track of those spells. Two spells, one button, no thinking. LOL!

#showtooltips Blackout Kick
/castsequence reset=0.3 1,Blackout Kick
/cast Rising Sun Kick

Hope that helps some. :)

I'll try that out!

I do try to keep similar spells bound to the same place- speed boosts, interrupts, cooldowns, etc. I'm just trying new things to see if someone else has a more optimal setup that I just haven't thought of. :3

I'll definitely check out the macro and addon though!
