Pandaria rares and Shadow Priests

Good Morning!! Apologies if this is formatted weirdly, LJ is being obnoxious this morning.

I am posting this on behalf of my girlfriend, who plays shadow/holy, and is running into some frustration that she cannot solo some of the Pandaria rares on her priest; pandaren and jinyu specifically give her a lot of trouble because of the long cooldowns

I have a shadow priest and I play her a lot. She is my second most frequently played toon next to my mage who is my main and my raiding toon. I love shadow priests.

Some suggestions for her (she might already be doing some of this, but here's what I do):

Take void tendrils as her first talent. The reason behind this is it not only acts as a snare but momentarily makes them attack the tendrils instead of you. Sometimes using their very damaging attacks on these which protects you from them. (My main is a mage, I won't lie that I think of these like my mage's mirror image in that they give me momentary reprieve from threat lol.) This is also the best option because the alternative is psychfiend. Rares are often found in crowded areas. Nothing will kill a clothie quicker than getting extra mobs in addition to that rare.

While we're on the subject of fears: Glyph of Psychic Scream. Makes them tremble in place rather than run all over the place. Use as an extra interrupt when they're about to cast a damaging attack. On this note, might be worth using psychic horror. It takes shadow orbs which might prolong the fight but if an extra interrupt is going to save you . . . worth it.

You're a hybrid class. Make generous use of this. Power Word: Shield on CD. Vampiric touch is huge for me when I'm fighting a really hard rare of in a sticky situation. Converts 50% of you damage into healing. Keep desperate prayer on hand for when your health gets low. Don't be afraid to leave shadow to use your big heals. (Go out of shadow and flash heal to heal yourself up if it's a matter of life or death. You can get that mana back with dispersion or shadow fiend easily.)
