Technical help - My computer is randomly shutting down

Sep 04, 2012 16:19

Okay, was running A-N on my shaman, soloing and testing out the auto-loot. And before I got to the first boss, my computer just shut down. Not, close all the programs and shut down like you've updates to install, it just, hard shut down.

I had this problem before when I was playing Skyrim, and it would do it randomly and with no detectable reason. Meaning, I would be traversing a zone for ages and then it would decide to do a hard shut down. Googled it, people had the same problem, and when they turned the settings down, it helped. So I did, but I didn't get a chance to test it extensively.

Until today I was just dicking around in Org and I had no computer problems, only addon problems.

I have Windows 7 64-bit
AMD Phenom II X4 940 Processor
4GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce8800 GTS 512

I run the 64-bit client.

This thread on the forums has people having the same problem. I can't tell if it's my computer or WoW however. I never had this problem before the patch though.

EDIT: My computer runs super loud, the motherboard and the card both run very hot, so I'm getting a new processor in a week, and a new video card within a month. That + probable memory leaks is most likely my problem. Thanks guys, for pointing me in the right direction.
