So I have an ear infection and a sinus infection, and a fever that ranges from "What fever" to "Oh god I'm going to die." In the delusions that accompany this, and the tylenol 3 that the doc gave me to combat said fever and aches etc, I have decided that my mage absolutely must have, not only one of the shiny pretty talbuks, but also the spellfire

Yeah, but if I'm farming primals, I'm not farming ogres. XD

I thought I'd try this route first and see if I can make a dent in the numbers I need before dividing my attentions.

Oh, Lord, I would, wouldn't I?

I'm not expecting to get all 40 of them through begging, but I know I sometimes have things on alts that I'm like, how long have I had this for?, and usually end up stuffing it in the alt bank because it might be useful, and then eight months down the line going "Good god! This place is a mess!" I've managed to find four of the 44 primals just by going through my bags, so it's not all hopeless. You never learn if you don't ask, (Although a guildy did get confused and sent me 44 volatile fires - nice sentiment, though, wasn't it?)

And I'm jus going to stop rambling now

Its somewhat annoying that the alchemy transmutes for the primals still have the 24hr cooldown.... and trigger the cooldown on the current transmutes as well :(

I stopped playing months ago and this STILL makes me raeg.

I can see why they wouldn't remove the CD entirely. There's still valuable profit to be made in old elements. A xmute alchy could make gold hand over fist if the old xmutes were completely off CD.

But it wouldn't kill them to delink all elemental transmutes ever. Each expansion could have its own cooldown. Even at 24 hours I would accept that. Very much.
