Healers supposed to DPS too in BGs?

Hey ladies,

Sorry to bring my insecurities here, but basically I'm wondering if I'm doing PVP wrong.

I've been playing a lot in BGs on my healer. Now when I check the battleground stats at the end, I'm usually up there on healing done, which is very satisfying. But here's the thing... most of the time I have 0 damage done, whereas everyone else, EVERYONE, including all of the other healers, has at least some.

So here's what I'm wondering... in battlegrounds, is it considered un-kosher to be pure heals? Are you supposed to be tossing out some DPS at the same time? I worried about this in dungeons too for a while, after the advent of DPS/heal hybrid talent trees that allowed priests to smite-heal, or Tree of Life to light up Wrath, or pally healers to regain mana by melee-ing mobs or whatever it is that they do. But eventually I concluded that as long as the dungeon got done and nobody died, it was fine not to worry about contributing to the DPS.

But battlegrounds are different. Most of them are pretty close, there's no guarantee of winning. Is a healer letting down their team if they don't do some DPS on the side?
