I use the word "girl" the way I use the word "guy" so that doesn't bother me too much. I respect that others may not feel the same.

There was a post of this not too long ago. It's a good video, much better than a lot of others along the same lines.

I went through the "chick" wars of the late 60s, early 70s (I'll be 58 next week) and rebelling against the then common "men and girls". I wish that the popular t-shirt wasn't "Tank like a girl" as I would love to have one if it said woman.

My most recent personal "business" card says "Librarian, gamer, virtual worlds enthusiast, family historian, artist, vocalist, Wiccan and interfaith activist". No gender terms required for any of those things.

"Men and girls" still seems pretty common, although the even more vile "men and females" (female whats?) seems to have overtaken it.

I like the word "gal" for a "guy" equivalent. Boys and girls, guys and gals, men and women.

I like "x like a girl" because the insult is so often "you x like a girl."

Yeah I do, and that's why I'M AWESOME.

But otherwise I prefer woman, just because I'm an adult, not a girl. But I'll jump on "girl" when people want to use it as an insult.

Hmm, I can see that. Still don't think I can quite bring myself to wear the t-shirt though. And my actual raiding tank is a male Draenei anyway. LOL

Yeah I personally love love love the word girl. Then again I am a college kid lol. Maybe when I get older I will adopt another term.
