Race change and heirlooms

Hi all, I'm new to the community. *waves* I just started playing Wow back in March, so I'm still fairly new to the game. I have a couple questions I'm pondering. I have a level 42 worgen rogue that I'm considering changing to another race. If I did, which Allied race would be a good choice? I'm planning on PvPing with her, so would that affect ( Read more... )

leveling: heirloom, rogue: general

Races: Rogues are actually really nice as worgen because of the worgen dash ability. If you happen to be carrying a flag or need to escape, you have two abilities to let you do so-- or to get far enough away to use Vanish.

Otherwise, humans are your best bet because of their racial, Every Man For Himself. :)

As far as heirlooms go, buy the XP granting ones. The weapons aren't allllll that much better than drops from dungeons, anyway, and they give no XP. The only weapons worth really getting is the tank sword (if you plan to enchant it with Crusader), and even then it's not a big deal.

I personally buy:

Leather chest + shoulders
Plate chest + shoulders
Cloth chest + shoulders

Leather is good for: kitty druids, enchancement shaman, hunters, rogues, bear druids.

Plate (dps or tank plate, as they're somewhat interchangeable no matter how you look at it) is good for: warriors, paladins, and death knights.

Cloth is good for priests (all specs), resto shaman, resto druids, warlocks (all specs), mages (all specs), balance druids, elemental shaman

I might have forgotten some class/spec combo but those three sets of heirlooms are good for every combo out there. Admittedly, resto shaman would do better with intellect MAIL (vs. cloth), but the cloth will suffice and anyway, buying a bunch of heirloom gear just to level ONE alt (when leveling is generally pretty fast these days) is kind of a waste of time. Unless there is only one alt you really want to level. ;P

Oh, and the head/back pieces are good, too (from guild vendor), but only if you have the money. Remember, they cost gold while the JP vendors only charge you JP for the gear. If you can afford the JP pieces AND have the gold for the head/back, you should go for them all. But 10% XP for the chest/shoulders is way better than the 5% for head/cloak.
