Heroic Tier Tokens
I joined a 25man raiding guild about 3 or 4 weeks ago, and we've been steadily pushing progression which is great! Woo heroic kills! But I had a realization yesterday..
My spriest is currently sporting some shoulders which are not my tier. My heroic tier shoulders are BiS, and obviously something I am aiming to pick up once we make H:Staghelm meet his maker. However, because I don't have my tier piece, the heroic token is all but useless to me since the VP vendor says that I need both the item and the token.
It's very possible that we'll kill him tonight on heroic, and if we do, the chances of doing it on normal again drop somewhat. (The fight is obviously pretty RNG with cat leaps and orb spawn points, so I can understand if we're wiping repeatedly due to bad luck with RNG we might swap it back over to normal.) Which will basically lock me out of my BiS shoulders because I don't have the normal tier shoulders..
Or will it? I've heard from a few places that you don't need the original tier piece before you upgrade it to the heroic version, but I don't know if this is accurate or true. Can anyone tell me one way or another? (My source said that Paragon complained that it held their progression back, and was changed near the start of Cata.)
(I have talked with the primary GL (we have three guild leaders), and he said that it was a totally solid concern and he would talk with the other GLs about it. He did add that he might not be able to do anything to help, but he totally understands my concern and he'll see what can be done about it.)
EDIT: I'M AN IDIOT. VP GUY SAYS I DON'T NEED THE TIER PIECE TO GET THE HEROIC TIER SHOULDERS OR HELM. GO BACK TO YOUR LIVES. NOTHING TO SEE HERE.
