A little background- I am relatively new to the game, and have neither a gold excess nor a bunch of high-level characters to assign professions to. My main is a level 80 druid, and although I started raising her as feral, I fell in love with resto and am now considering respeccing my little-used feral OS to balance for cata. I had decided on skinning/LW toward the beginning and have not regretted skinning for a second. The problem is that as I’m working on leveling LW, I worry that I am putting resources into a profession that will neither make me much money nor provide much direct benefit for a caster!
What do you think, ladies? Does LW have uses for a resto druid that I am not seeing? My google-fu seems to be saying that is better for ferals, hunters, or mail-wearing casters. Can I make decent money off of it at 525? Or should I cut my losses now (while it is only at 130)?
If so, then I am just as conflicted with what to replace it with. The thought of leveling another gathering profession from the ground up makes me cringe (though, if I were to dump all my leather on the AH, maybe I can afford the higher flying speeds and it would be less painful?). In addition, I’ve found node-gathering on my alts to be boring, and I really don’t spend much time “out in the world” questing, having leveled almost exclusively through dungeons.
On the other hand…I am an independent player. I am in a guild, but it’s got one foot in the grave. I don’t have a pile of friends in-game, and therefore have limited access to crafting professions. Maybe this will change, maybe it won’t. So I am thinking going the double-gathering route would be worth it, because then I would have the resources to buy my gems/enchants/whatever else I need at endgame from the AH?
What to do, what to do…
