What can one do regarding getting back what was stolen from the guild bank, when it was a member who does not show signs of having been hacked?
We are in the process of taking necessary measures to make sure it can't happen again, kicked the member and all of his alts, and as soon as the GM logs on, permissions and ranks will be adjusted - up until now we'd had mains and alts be at the same rank with the same permissions, and hadn't had any issues. I wish I could say I thought the guy had been hacked, but he was online and had been in a raid not long before it happened, and all the items that had been taken had been taken 10-12 hours before.
Is there any likelyhood at all that a game master might choose to or be able to return what was lost? Or will we just have to chalk it up to a mistake, and make sure it won't happen again?
Rough estimates are showing us, at current market value on my realm, we probably lost at minimum 8k worth, probably even more. Its not going to break us, but it definitely hurts.
ETA: Well. Apparently he indeed WAS hacked after all. Got in-game mail from him this morning (in 5 letters, wow!) saying as much as he got hacked, he just found out when he logged on to 9 naked toons... and 1 botting around BWL. It was just so unexpected, esp since, as far as we could tell, the hacker had apparently gone, with a guildy, through one of those raids. Very WTF. But a gm ticket regarding the fact that he was hacked, was opened, and everything's been returned. We still adjusted our member permissions though.
I still don't really understand why BWL though - is it a great money maker or something?
