Soloing instances for gold

Jan 01, 2011 17:12

Been researching this, and need some advice from you girls/guys. I'm starting to solo instances to farm gold, since it's more interesting and my other money-making prof is mining. Unfortunately, with everyone going gaga for all the nice, new shiny nodes, it's making it really hard to mine efficiently, so here I come lowbie instances ( Read more... )

Instead of soloing instances, I would farm mithril/throium for quicker gold. Khorium and adamantite still sell very, very well, too.
If you are pretty set on instances, and happen to also be an enchanter, anything that goves Large Brilliant Shards is good. I dont know what your other profession is, but my hunter is mining/herbalism and I can easily clear 30-40k a week.

unfortunately, all of those sell awfully on my server (esp. on Ally side, don't know why), and I just can't get mithril to sell half the time. for example, it takes me 10 mins to get 3-4 stacks of mithril, and they sell for 7g a stack, so i'm making 28g, if it sells. compared to me soloing ramps in the same time, i'm making way more in roughly the same amount of time. i sold a couple of stacks of adamantite once, and it took me a week to sell bleeeugh >__< Strangely enough, fel iron is pretty high but it takes some time to gather enough to sell.

i was actually thinking of dropping my other prof, which is engineering. i've been thinking about picking up enchanting instead.

Honestly, I would pick up herbalism, build up a massive, massive gold reserve, then pick up enchanting.

You can track mining/herbalism now, so it's much easier. Are you using something like gathermate to make it easier to find?

Level to 85! No, I'm serious. XD You get a huge stamina increase from 83-85 (for example, I got 20k health off of 84-85 alone) and you'll have a much easier time.

Frost is better at soloing old stuff because of the multiple long Frost Novas and stuns. Definitely helps your survivability, but Fire is fun if you just plan on grouping and AOEing.

Personally, I like soloing Karazhan and those epics vendor for quite a bit. I recently discovered that it's not that hard after I hit 85, the only thing that is troublesome is the chess event.

Which character do you solo Kara on? That sounds interesting! It's definitely my favorite raid, I miss it so!

On my mage. :) She currently has 100k+ health, which means the mobs in Kara just tickle as long as I don't pull a ton of groups. She's also frost, the 110k Deep Freeze crits are quite nice... between those, all my CDs up, and blowing Cold Snap on bosses, things die VERY quickly.

Holy crap! I have an 85 Paladin, but I dunno if I could get her through Kara.XD That'd be a fun goal though for her somehow. I'm Holy/Ret though, I bet a Prot one could freaking do it.XD

Maybe my Prot Warrior could eventually. HMMMM. I LOVE KARA SO HARD. XD

Maybe check AH prices on rep items, like marks of sargeras and sanguine hibiscuses, and go into instances that drop those items? They sell well on my server (and the hibiscuses are particularly easy to farm if you know the trick) although my server is RP....

Karazhan is a gold mine. Of course you'll need a friend to group with you on a toon. They can log off that toon and you'll still be in a raid group. I've solo'ed that place and sold off all the stuff that drops (make heavy netherweave bandages from all the netherweave cloth to get 6g for vendoring a full stack).

Other outland dungeons on heroic mode can net you some good cash too. I'm in the process of farming the white hawkstrider from Magister's Terrace and usually come away with decent gold.

Good luck to you! Like someone else said, dinging 85 will definitely help for bigger pulls and by then you kill things so fast you'll literally laugh your way to the bank. :)

if you have a tailor alt, one stack of netherweave + 50 silver for thread gets you a netherweave bag, which usually AH for 8-12g. which is way more profitable than 3g per stack of cloth, if you're making it into bandaids!

Agreed! Still epic.

I know the bags sell for more on the ah, but I don't remember there being a mailbox inside Kara. I do know there are vendors in there though. I tend to run out of bag space pretty easily when I loot up everything that drops in there. The one thing clogging up my inventory aside from useless (but they vendor for gold) greys is the cloth. And since running back outside to look for a mailbox seems like a chore, I just make bandages and vendor. :)

I send the rest of the cloth from regular dungeons over to the tailor though.

Lots of great suggestions have been said already, though I just want to emphasize some points ( ... )

the only spec i've ever done on my mage is fire. i am not familiar with frost, but i would be willing to learn it if that means more monies.

i really don't like questing or mining, so that's mainly why I'm not doing it (i'm finding soloing instances more enjoyable). i have been doing some cata quests and then vendoring whatever's the most valuable gear given to me through those quests. I don't think I can handle much more unless I start having a beer or two though lol

i've also been low level farming cloth, i think i made 300g today just alone from that. i try to auction anything i can, of course, but i'm getting impatient and it doesn't feel fast enough for me. there's a shiny new motorcycle and mammoth i want :D

thank you - i'm going to save your comment in a wordpad file for future reference.
