Learning to Warrior

Dec 16, 2010 00:38

Several days ago, I got bored with leveling and archaeology, and decided to mess around with the new character creators.  The worgen one...eh, not too bad, but they all kind of end up looking the same after a while.

The goblin one actually yielded results in the form of a toon that I figured I could actually get excited about playing.  I've always been curious about warriors, so...that's what she became.  She is tiny and full of rage.  And, I've been told, strangely alluring.  :o

Anyway.  She's currently level 15, and I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing.  So far, it's been charge in, rend, victory rush if i have it/need to use it, and some combination of thunderclap and shield slam.  Moreso the thunderclap if I've got many mobs on me.  Rinse, repeat.  All of this has been done in battle stance.

I'm pretty well encouraged to level as prot because it seems to be fairly versatile at the moment.  I'm plowing through mobs out in the world, and when it comes to it, I can, in theory, go and tank something (though I don't have the slightest clue about what I'm doing there beyond run in, rend, thunderclap, ???, profit).  Beyond the first few talent points, I don't know where to put talents for leveling (incidentally - spread rend around with thunderclap and increased armor are where mine have gone).

I don't even know if I should be leveling with a shield and 1h weapon as a prot warrior out in the world - it makes some SENSE, since shield slam does a nice chunk of damage, but would a 2h do more?  Should I even be using battle stance?  Halp?  I really like running in, punching things, and generally pissing them off.  It amuses me, and I'd like to learn to do it right.  D:
