Reading advice
OK, so I finally caved and got myself the Arthas: rise of the Lich King. I've only kept half an eye on the lore while playing, and it was really good to get a bit more background on various characters and how situations in the current game came to be. I like some people a LOT more, some I understand a bit better, and a few I now dislike intensely LOL (keeping this as general as poss to avoid spoilerage!). Now I'm wondering where I can get myself some more lore goodness. I'm hoping some of you lore-minded ladies/gentlemen can point me to a good book to read next.
The Arthas book includes a chapter from Stormrage (by Knaak). I tried to read it with a fresh mind (I know he's not popular in some quarters, to put it mildly) but tbh...don't like the writing style. The book also lists where to find other characters, and I'm wondering whether you'd recommend any of the following in particular:
- Tides of Darkness by Aaron Rosenberg or Of Blood and Honour by Chris Metzen (<3 <3 paladins)
- Lord of the Clans by Christie Golden (very interested in Thrall's backstory, is this the one I need?)
- does anything give a similar backstory for Varian Wrynn?
I don't particularly care about reading things in order or anything, I'm more interested in certain characters :) If you have a fave that isn't in my list above, I'm still interested in hearing about why it's a fave!
