These are our new bookshelves. Which seem to call, at least faintly, for a TV upgrade.
We've pretty much chosen makes, models, sound systems, etc, and I'm not looking to relitigate those. But the remaining question is: 75" screen or 65" screen?
Considerations:
- After allowing for the base (with embedded speakers), the 75" will vertically fill the space with at most about 1/8" to spare.
- The 75" will fill the space horizontally with about 4 1/2" to spare on each side. I think (but am not sure) that this is enough space for me to comfortably reach the ports on the side of the TV set.
There is a huge price difference, but I'm not asking for advice on that. Instead, because I have exactly zero experience watching large-screen TV's, I am asking which screen you believe would make me happier. Will the 75" look substantially more awesome or will I not notice the difference? Will I regret having something so huge that if I ever want to reach the ports on the back I'm going to have to call for help? Am I going to really really want more than 4 1/2" of space on the side? Will it look stupid or awesome to fill the space so thoroughly? Etc, etc. (In case it's relevant, the distance from my eyes to the set will be about 13 feet.)
Secondarily: If you have reasons to think we'd be happier with the Sonos Playbar than the Sonos Playbase (or vice versa) please share them.
