Even with real stars, how do they know?

I think it was... astronomers... I don't know. I guess they just made it up- But they can't make it up if there are no stars, that's just way too fake sounding.

I wonder if the cities in my world still do it- even with no stars.

It is only talk. I think that stars are good at keeping watch but little else. Especially giving guidance beyond standard navigation.
